Goodbye, Now I'm Free

He took her light, dimmed it low,
Shaped her worth with words of woe,
Twisted truths, a cruel disguise,
Wrote his story in her eyes.
She danced along, believed the lie,
Mistook the cage for open sky,
Years unspooled, thread worn thin,
Lost herself somewhere within.
Bruised in heart, not just in skin,
Battles raged she couldn’t win,
Yet in the dark, a whisper grew—
A voice she thought she never knew.
Family’s warmth, a steady hand,
Friends who helped her learn to stand,
Reflections clear in tear-streaked glass,
Showed her strength she’d let him pass.
No more games, no whispered plea,
She faced him bold: “Goodbye. I’m free.”
No chains remain, no shadow’s claim,
She’s more than echoes of his name.
Now she soars, her spirit bright,
Dreams in color, bold with light,
Her heart, her own—unbound, untamed—
A life reclaimed, a soul renamed.
Against the Odds

In a house where shadows whispered loud,
A young girl grew beneath the shroud.
The walls were thin, but the silence thick,
And dreams felt far, too hard to pick.
The world she knew was rough and gray,
No open paths, just walls in the way.
But deep inside, a spark would gleam,
A quiet voice, “You’re meant to dream.”
Through broken nights and weary days,
She gathered strength in subtle ways.
With books as windows, her soul took flight,
Escaping storms that stole the light.
Her hands bore calluses, her spirit fire,
She worked each day, climbing higher.
School at dawn, then shifts till late,
Each step forward defied her fate.
The world outside was cold and bare,
Yet she built a life with grit and care.
One stone, one brick, she laid it strong,
Creating a place where she belonged.
Now she stands, her head held high,
Her past a shadow, her future the sky.
No chain, no scar could ever define,
The strength she forged, the light that’s mine.
Against the odds, she fought, she won,
Proof that hope shines brighter than the sun.
Unyielding Flame

When shadows fall and whispers loom,
When life’s fierce trials steal the room,
A spark within begins to glow,
A flame of strength the soul will know.
No storm can break what roots have grown,
No night too dark to stand alone.
Through jagged paths and uphill climb,
The heart beats bold, defying time.
The weight of doubts may press the chest,
The fear of failure tests the best.
Yet every crack reveals the fire,
Each scar a badge of risen higher.
For in the mirror stands a guide,
A will unshaken, undenied.
Through every fall, through every strain,
It rises, learns, and stands again.
Self-determined, fierce, and free,
The captain of your destiny.
No chains can bind, no walls confine,
A strength eternal, wholly mine.
So let the trials rage and roar,
Let doubt knock heavy at the door.
For every battle scars the sky,
A phoenix soaring, born to fly.
Breaking the Chains

Her voice, once soft, was drowned in fear,
A storm of words, too sharp, too near.
Each cruel remark, a cut unseen,
She wore the scars where none had been.
Day by day, the silence grew,
Her strength diminished, but not her view.
Deep inside, a flame remained,
A whisper calling to break the chain.
“You are more than the names they give,
A soul with fire, a right to live.
No voice should cage, no word should bind,
Your worth is greater, your strength aligned.”
Through tears she saw a brighter dawn,
The courage swelled, though faith seemed gone.
One step, then two, the door appeared,
A freedom beckoned, though deeply feared.
Her voice returned, steady and strong,
A melody lost, reclaimed in song.
“I am enough, my heart will mend,
This is not where my story ends.”
Now she walks with shoulders high,
A phoenix risen, who dared to try.
No chains remain, no voice can claim,
Her strength, her courage, her rightful name.
For in the ashes of pain she lay,
She found herself and chose to stay.
Not with the past, but with the light,
A woman reborn, her future bright.
Rising Through the Storm

The night was quiet, sleep’s gentle embrace,
But dawn broke sharp, a thief in its place.
In 2006, the whispers came clear,
A shadow named Multiple Sclerosis appeared.
Three months of torment, my world undone,
A battle waged where none had begun.
Tears fell in waves, distraught yet relieved,
A name for the chaos, though hard to conceive.
In Phoenix’s heart, under Banner’s care,
My mother flew in, her strength laid bare.
From Mississippi skies to my side she came,
Through Solumedrol’s sting, she steadied my flame.
Relief returned, a fleeting grace,
A cycle of trials I had to face.
But deep within, a spark survived,
A will to endure, to stay alive.
Eighteen years of mountains climbed,
With courage steady, and purpose refined.
From that storm, I emerged with light,
A creator of words, my heart takes flight.
Now full-time at life, with stories to tell,
My voice breaks free from that temporary hell.
Though MS walks with me each step of the way,
I write, I create, I conquer each day.
This is my anthem, my vow, my creed,
A testament to strength in the face of need.
For though the storm may rage and swell,
I rise, I thrive, and I live to tell.
